Cowboys own planets and can terraform, manufacture high-value goods, construct ships, and hire Space Pirates. Space Pirates control a single spaceship and can join a Cowboy’s clans to fight for them in a joint quest to conquer the galaxy. Essentially, Cowboys are the brains and Space Pirates are the hired muscle.

In addition, all Space Cowboys are the owner of a planet, represented by a Planet NFT. Owning a planet in the metaverse gives Cowboys access to more features. It includes constructing planetary and interplanetary manufacturing lines, terraforming planets, forging ships, and forming federations.

In order to distribute Planet NFTs to players in a verifiably random manner, Metagalaxy needs access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit. However, RNG solutions for smart contracts require several security considerations to prevent manipulation and ensure system integrity.

For instance, RNG solutions derived from blockchain data like block hashes can be exploited by miners/validators, while off-chain RNG solutions derived from off-chain APIs are opaque and don’t provide users with definitive proof of the integrity of the process.

Furthermore, the Metagalaxy Land smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof. The cryptographic proof can only generates if the VRF process is tamper-proof.

Additionally, this provides its users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain. This will enable Planet NFTs minting process to be provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the Metagalaxy Land team.
