Cronos Ecosystem Grants Program was established back in December 2021 with two clear goals in mind:

• To support early-stage projects on Cronos by bootstrapping initial product development and providing monetary, technical, and marketing support
• To align incentives together with new builders and teams by helping their projects grow together with the broader ecosystem

One key criterion of the grants was that projects had to build innovative products, especially within an underserved vertical within Cronos. For this fifth batch of Cronos Ecosystem Grant, the platform received a total of 180 applications and has narrowed it down to 7 projects for the fifth batch of grant recipients.

1. Bitquery 

Bitquery is a set of software products that parse, index and store blockchain data in a unified way. Additionally, Bitquery will be indexing, extracting, and presenting valuable data from the Cronos chain via APIs and on its explorer.

2. OpenLeverage

OpenLeverage is a permissionless lending margin trading protocol that enables traders or other applications to long or short on any trading pair on DEXs efficiently and securely. Furthermore, OpenLeverage will be deploying its margin trading services and isolated lending pools on Cronos.

 3. Unmarshal

Unmarshal is a multi-chain Data Infrastructure providing simplified access to data on DeFi, NFT, and Metaverse. Additionally, Unmarshal will be indexing Cronos, providing data APIs, and integrating its suite of data products on Cronos.

4. Kairos

Kairos is a lending protocol using NFTs as collateral differentiating itself from the competition by offering better LTV and instant borrowing. Furthermore, Kairos will be integrating Cronos as part of its Mainnet launch.

5. Hummingbot

Hummingbot is open-source software that helps traders build high-frequency crypto trading bots that specialize in market making and arbitrage strategies. The Hummingbot will be integrating Hummingbot Gateway on Cronos.

6. Market.xyz

Market.xyz is a multi-chain permissionless lending protocol that offers isolated lending markets. The platform allows users to earn yield by supplying their cryptocurrencies as collateral to an isolated lending market or pool. Market.xyz will be integrating its platform on Cronos.

7. Subquery

SubQuery is a decentralized data aggregation, indexing & querying layer between Layer-1 blockchains and decentralized applications. In addition, SubQuery will be integrating Cronos, allowing projects and users to build custom GraphQL APIs, and providing enterprise-grade managed services for hosting.

Binance Labs, the venture capital arm and accelerator of Binance, led an $8.5 million seed funding round for Bitquery as part of its ongoing drive to support innovative blockchain data solution providers. The round was co-led by dao5, with Susquehanna, DHVC, INCE Capital, and angel investors from Google among other participants.

Bitquery will use the funds raised to expand its data coverage to support more blockchains, drive new use cases, and build out its BIT protocol to facilitate real-time data delivery.

Bitquery offers a set of software products that parse, index and store blockchain data in a unified way. Its two major product lines are APIs and data analytics tools. Cover over 40 blockchains. In addition, it provides use cases across verticals such as digital assets exchanges, DeFi protocols, government organizations, and more.

APIs: 

• Coinpath is a set of API endpoints to trace money from any source and destination. Create money flow graphs and aggregate transfers to addresses.

• Digital Asset APIs are crypto-centric and provide indexed information for all major cryptocurrencies, coins, and tokens. It supports visualization of transactions that happened since the genesis block.

• DEX GraphQL APIs offer real-time trading data from multiple DEX protocols across different blockchains. Users can build charts, find arbitrage opportunities, analyze DEX markets, and more.

Data analytics tools:

• GraphQL is an open-source data query and manipulation language for APIs, and a runtime for fulfilling queries with existing data. 

• Bloxy and Bitquery Explorer are client-side Web applications that offer analytics for more than 40 blockchains. Backed by a multi-dimensional database, Bitquery Explorer can aggregate data to facilitate complex analysis.

• Bitquery widgets allow users to view blockchain analytics, dApp, and DeFi data on the website easily.

Bitquery will continue to develop its BIT protocol, a chain-agnostic, and real-time data delivery and transformation protocol. Rather than storing data inside its own network, the BIT protocol has connectors for users to ingest blockchain data through their preferred interface. With the BIT protocol, Bitquery aims to resolve data accessibility challenges.
