MicroSoft And Intel Teams Up To Combat Cryptojacking

Published on: 28.04.2021

Cryptojacking is a type of cyberattack where hackers uses the target’s computing power to illicitly mine cryptocurrency.

In order to prevent this kind of cyberattack, leading software company Microsoft and leading computer manufacturer Intel team up together to develop a technology to detect cryptocurrency mining malware.

Introducing Intel Threat Detection Technology (TDT), a silicon-based threat detection to enable endpoint detection and response (EDR) capabilities to be integrated in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

This new technology is specifically developed for crypto mining malware detection and does not require any additional investments, IT configuration, or installation of agents.

The new technology further detects side-channel attacks and ransomware on top of the usual cryptocurrency mining malware.

With this new technology, users can have added protection against cryptojacking.
