Shanghai Will Airdrop 19.25 Million Digital Yuan

Fresh from Beijing’s announcement of $6.3 Million digital yuan giveaway,Shanghai will also host another red packet giveaway to further boosts mass adoption.

The airdrop will have 350,000 red packets containing 55 digital yuan to lucky residents amounting to 19.25 million of the central bank digital currency.

Residents must register through the official WeChat account of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shanghai branch or the Bank of Communications Shanghai branch between June 5 and 6.

This giveaway is another massive event that will help the digital renminbi to gain more reach in order to become a means of exchange in China.

It is worth noting that China is leading the implementation of its central bank digital currency compared to other countries.
