Published on: 08.06.2021

The leading cryptocurrency price continues its downward trend following the news of US seizure of bitcoin in the Colonial Pipe hacking incident.

The United States Department of Justice managed to retrieve 63.7 bitcoins valued at $2.1 million paid by the Colonial Pipe company to hackers.

The hacking incident happened last month where hackers take over the Colonial Pipe system and cause massive fuel shortages at US East Coast gas stations.

The FBI managed to secure the private key to unlock a bitcoin wallet that had received most of the funds.

Although bitcoin seizures are uncommon, these case is an example that cryptocurrencies can still be tracked down amidst its decentralized nature.
