KEANU Vote Passes by Keep

Keep announced that the KEANU rc0 proposal has passed in both the Keep and NuCypher communities.

KEANU is the codename for the unprecedented collaborative endeavor between Keep Network and NuCypher to undertake the first decentralized on-chain network upgrade combining two protocols. The snapshot voteconcluded Friday after months of community collaboration, and they’re delighted to announce that the Keep x NuCypher network upgrade is moving forward with approximately 93% of individual Keep stakers voting for the initiative and 78% of staked KEEP supporting the measure.

While KEANU discussions took place through Medium posts, YouTube videos, open calls, memes, and spirited debate on our Discord, it was driven by a number of community-generated proposals from our community members.

The final proposal for which the successful snapshot vote was undertaken was the RC0 Proposal. You can check out the RC0 vote Snapshot here, and a deeper dive on the Proposal itself here.

First and foremost, they have to take a moment to celebrate our incredible community. So much of what happens in this space is driven solely by speculation and the pursuit of wealth — both of which are cool! — but what you’ve proven to them, each other, and the wider tech ecosystem is that egalitarianism can work, that new ways of doing business are possible, and that the spirit of decentralization is stronger than ever.

What they’ve all worked on together over the past couple of months is truly unprecedented, and the resulting merge will create a powerhouse platform for threshold cryptography and decentralized bridges between blockchain networks. So, what comes next? From inception, KEANU has been about aligning incentives: rather than continuing to split the market, they can achieve significantly more together. Keep and NuCypher combining means more useful services, and more fees for validators. KEANU calls for the combination of the Keep and NuCypher protocols, staking networks, and shared developmental efforts. This is to allow both communities to rally behind a unified network that inherits the best aspects of each original network.

Now that the KEANU vote is confirmed, they’re striding forward on a roadmap that sees the merge develop in concert with TBTC v2, which will offer a whole new level of scalability and a seamless UX. TBTC v2 will also see the Keep community evolve into a new, more decentralized form: the KEANU DAO. With the KEANU vote passing and Keep Coverage Pools hitting the platform, they’re already on their way to achieving the essential milestones on roadmap to TBTC v2.

What is Keep?
