Leonicorn Swap is Integrating Chainlink VRF for Fair Randomness to access a verifiably tamper-proof source of randomness within our lucky draw games and surprise NFT loot boxes. The end result is a more transparent and provably fair way to select winners and distribute random rewards via on-chain games, all in a manner that is publicly auditable.
Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Leonicorn smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This helps provide our users with automated and verifiable proof directly on-chain that Leonicorn Swap lucky draws and surprise NFT box openings are provably fair and were not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the team.
