Hypersign’s Bridge to Polygon Is LIVE

A step-by-step guide to bridging your $HID from Ethereum to Polygon

  • Polygon allows for near fee-less and lighting-quick $HID transactions
  • Enable Polygon on your Metamask wallet with this simple guide
  • Bridge your $HID from Ethereum to Polygon in minutes and save $$$$ in gas fees

If you have used Ethereum recently, you will be well aware of the relatively expensive elephant in the room — the network’s ridiculously high gas fees. At current levels, this cripples the use of any ERC-20 token and creates an unequal environment where only whales can afford to use the network, and the average user is priced out. This goes against everything Hypersign stands for.

Hypersign’s core mission is to decentralize Identity and Access Management. Built on public-key cryptography, the Hypersign network securely connects users to applications (web apps, DApps and DAOs) without the need for usernames and passwords.

This infrastructure creates secure environments and enables connections between hardware, users, and any other virtual or real entities that can connect to the network — such as the vast gamut of IOT devices rapidly entering our home, workplace, and everything in between. From home appliances to connected automobiles, our ability to stay connected securely in an increasingly “always-on” world relies on Hypersign’s privacy solutions.

Hypersign is also blockchain agnostic, and building towards an interoperable multi-chain future where their DID (Decentralized Identity) solutions are accessible across chains.

While we understand that bridging to layer 2 for the first time can seem intimidating for many users, it’s actually much easier than you might think — all it takes is setting up your Metamask and adding Polygon. Furthermore, once you bridge to Polygon, your transaction costs for trading, lending, borrowing, staking, and sending digital assets are near zero.

In short, they think the transition is worth it, and that’s why they’ve created this guide to show you how to set up your MetaMask wallet to interact with Polygon in addition to bridging your $HID for use on Layer 2.

Let’s get started!

Note: this guide assumes Metamask is already installed and you have funds on the Ethereum mainnet. If you don’t have Metamask installed, read these FAQs to get started.

Step 1: First, you need to add the Matic mainnet to your wallet.

To do this, navigate to https://chainlist.org/ and search “Matic” in the search bar. We want to add the Matic Mainnet, which is the option with Chain ID 137.

Next, click “Connect Wallet” and then “Add To Metamask.”

Approve the Metamask alert, and you are ready to move on to the next step!

STEP 2: Transferring $HID from the Ethereum Mainchain to the Polygon Network

Navigate to https://wallet.polygon.technology/bridge and connect your wallet. Make sure your Metamask is set to Ethereum Mainnet.

Click on Metmask and Sign the notification.

You should now see the following dashboard:

Click the “Move funds from Ethereum to Polygon” button near the top right of the screen. It will take you to the Bridge. Select the asset you would like to transfer. In this example, we are moving $HID. Be sure to have ETH on Ethereum mainnet to pay for the transaction fees.

Once you have specified the asset, you would like to transfer, click the “Transfer” button. It will open a notification window pictured below:

Click “Continue.” You will now see a Transfer Overview window that estimates the gas costs for the transaction.

Note: transaction costs will vary depending on network demand. To see current gas prices, click here. If you are happy with the transaction price, click “Continue” on the Transfer overview (pictured below). Otherwise, wait for gas prices to come down.

Once you have initiated your transaction on Metamask, and the transaction completes, your funds have officially moved from Ethereum to Polygon! Your balance should be updated on your Metamask.

STEP 3: Adding $HID as a Custom Token to Your Wallet on Matic Mainnet

Those who were already familiar with MetaMask will be familiar with the process of adding a custom token to their wallets. What many may not know is that even if they’ve already added $HID to their wallet on the Ethereum Mainnet, they will have to add it again on the Matic Mainnet to view their balances. This is because $HID’s address is not the same on Polygon as it is on Ethereum.

$HID’s Polygon address is: 0x87847703d4bb4fcd42db887ffdcb94496e77e3ab

The good news is that adding a custom token is very simple.

On your MetaMask wallet, set the network to Matic Mainnet, scroll to the bottom and click “Add Token.”

Then, copy and paste HID’s token address from above into the first line titled “Token Contract Address”. For added security, you can also verify that the address is correct on the Matic Token Mapper page. Once you’ve filled that line in correctly, the other two fields (“Token Symbol” and “Decimals of Precision”) should auto-populate with the correct information (HID and 18). Then, click “Next.”

MetaMask will then ask if you want to add the token to your wallet, and you should click “Add Token.”

Back in your wallet home screen, under the “Assets” tab, you should now see $HID.

And that’s it!

Welcome to the glorious world of lighting fast and near feeless $HID!

So there you have it! Gone are the days where every little transaction requires enormous fees. With just 0.001 MATIC, you can do 100 basic transactions on the Polygon network.

And rest assured, we will keep working to bring $HID to more blockchains in the future so that our users don’t have to worry about irrelevant and costly technicalities during their Hypersign experience.

So, if you haven’t already, join Hypersign’s Decentralized Identity revolution and fight for our right to privacy and data protection!
