Ocean Protocol x Fractal Protocol Strategic Collaboration

Ocean Protocol, the leading developer of powerful Web3 apps for the emerging data economy, has entered into a strategic partnership with Fractal, an open-source zero-margin protocol for data exchange.
The main point of collaboration is focused on kickstarting identity verification in the Ocean Market.
Fractal’s system is powered by an incentive process that attracts data growth and drives innovation by allowing new business models based on data to emerge.
As part of this collaboration:
- By combining Fractal’s Protocol-based Data Provisioning Incentivization with Ocean’s privacy-preserving Compute-to-Data feature and Ocean Market for data, users can take ownership of their data and monetize it themselves.
- By way of example, Fractal will use Ocean technology to build a Facebook Data Exfiltrator 3000. Data publishers will download their Facebook data, publish it in the Ocean Market, and be able to monetize it in a privacy-preserving fashion using Ocean’s Compute-to-Data feature. Data curators, consumers, and traders can stake on data to signal their support, add liquidity, and share in the transaction fees.
- Fractal will also provide additional identity guarantees for data publishers on the Ocean Market. Currently, the Ocean Market uses 3Box to allow data publishers to attach profile info to their Ethereum addresses. Through Fractal’s identity verification feature, data publishers on Ocean Market can use Fractal to upload their credentials to the marketplace during the publishing process.
About the Fractal Protocol
Built on Polkadot, Fractal Protocol is an open-source, zero-margin protocol that defines a basic standard to exchange user information in a fair and open way, ensuring a high-quality version of the free internet. In its first version, it is designed to replace the ad cookie and give users back control over their data.
About Ocean Protocol
Ocean Protocol is governed by a Singapore based non-profit foundation, whose mandate is to ensure open access to the protocol and platform, provide data governance, encourage the network ecosystem growth, and take measures to ensure that the platform becomes ever more decentralized with time.
