Pixels Receives Investments from Animoca Brands
Pixels, an interoperable and play-to-earn farming simulation game for the metaverse, announced that it has raised over $2.4 million in funding in a round led by Animoca Brands and PKO Investments with OpenSea, Untapped Capital, and Leonis Capital joining the round as well.
Pixels is creating new land in the metaverse and is focused on creating engaging game mechanics that drive utility and value to its land. Pixels is also an early leader in interoperability – in Pixels players can use NFTs they already own as their avatars.
Animoca Brands is a global leader in gamification and blockchain with a large portfolio of over 150 investments in NFT-related companies and decentralized projects that are contributing to building the open metaverse.
Pixels will use the new funding to focus on fully building and scaling initial game features in preparation for a token launch planned for late Q2 2022.
Luke Barwikowski, CEO of Pixels, commented: “We feel really aligned with the vision that Animoca Brands has for the space and are really excited to be a part of its portfolio. There are so many interesting challenges that we have ahead and having a partner like Animoca Brands will be a huge advantage for us going forward.”
Yat Siu, the executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, commented:
“With its focus on integrating different PFP projects into the core game as avatars, Pixels is leading the way in the interoperability of social identifiers for the open metaverse.”
