FreeWei: Gasless cross-chain swaps with VarenX on Polygon
The biggest bottlenecks in DeFi is high gas fees on Ethereum. Over the past year we’ve seen a surge of scaling solutions to address this.
At Varen their goal is to bring cross-chain DeFi to the retail masses. As such, as part of their development roadmap with their partners Ren protocol, they have now deployed VarenX to Polygon!
Take the FreeWei
With VarenX on Polygon they didn’t just stop at lowering gas fees for cross-chain swaps; their mission is to make cross-chain swaps as frictionless as possible.
Which is why they are very excited to introduce a new feature: FreeWei
Please read their explainer post for more information about FreeWei.
How does VarenX on Polygon work?
VarenX works exactly the same on Polygon as it does on the Ethereum base chain, giving you the same cross-chain swapping experience in a single transaction, but with the additional FreeWei feature enabling gasless transactions for you.
To use VarenX on Polygon go to varenx.com, and switch the wallet connector to the Polygon network. Then you follow the same steps as you would on Ethereum to execute the swap you want. FreeWei ensures that you don’t need any $MATIC loaded in the wallet before you swap. For more tips, you can find a general VarenX tutorial here.
They have also updated the Varen Explorer to now include transactions on Polygon, so here’s an example of a LUNA to BTC cross-chain swap through VarenX on Polygon:
As is the case on Ethereum, VarenX protocol fees accumulate to a multi-sig wallet on Polygon owned by the Varen DAO.
They’ve also updated VarenX to use 1inch Router v4, further improving the efficiency of VarenX, delivering the best liquidity at the lowest gas fees possible.
