Pavia — The Land of Dreams, The Home of Paribus
Paribus revealed its plans to open a virtual HQ in a metaverse they’re excited to announce that the world they’ve chosen is Pavia, the most well-known and respected metaverse in the Cardano ecosystem.
Pavia came to life in 2021 and quickly captured the hearts and minds of many within the Cardano ecosystem. Just a few weeks ago on 10th February they also won the Best Virtual World Award at the annual NFT Awards, hosted in Decentraland. Beating competitors from rival blockchains demonstrates just how far the Pavia team has come in such a short space of time.
To date we’ve acquired 9 plots of land within Pavia that we’ll be developing into our virtual HQ, the details of which were previously outlined by Deniz, our CEO, “Our virtual HQ will be a place for visitors of this metaverse to come and interact with Paribus like never before. One can explore the metaverse and stay plugged in while they discuss the finances of making an investment in such a place. Visitors will be able to explore the benefits of our platform in an immersive and interesting way.”
More recently Deniz explained the reasons we chose Pavia over other Metaverses, “Pavia is the first Cardano specific metaverse. Due to our connection to Cardano, it was an easy choice for our first entry into the metaverse. We know that Pavia is in its initial stages of development and we’re excited to be along for the journey.”
Although Pavia is still in its infancy, as are all metaverses, the inevitability of society’s move towards virtual reality is clear to everyone in the blockchain space. Facebook’s rebranding to Meta alongside their spending of over $12 Billion on Reality Labs last year, indicates just how important metaverses are for the future.
Undoubtedly the transition from physical to digital worlds has been hastened by the pandemic and subsequent disruption to physical society. With more people opting to work from home or become digital nomads the need to create virtual spaces for all aspects of human interaction is now more pressing than ever before.
Pavia’s approach to development, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within a steady and stable framework, not only exemplifies the traits of Cardano itself but also aligns with our approach. We envisage a world where people can switch seamlessly between their physical and digital worlds and for this to be successful they need not just a metaverse but also the financial tools that can move with them.
The benefits of working in the metaverse over the physical world are summed up neatly by Wilson, our COO, “In general the metaverse will have functionalities that would be impossible in the physical world. We plan to take advantage of these benefits. Creating events where individuals from around the world can meet instantly and discuss ideas in a unique way. We’re seeing just the tip of the iceberg of the many ways metaverses will provide additional utilities for our community.”
Predicting the future in crypto is hard, as anyone who’s tried to time the markets can attest to. Just as we don’t know how far cryptocurrency prices will increase in the next few years, we can only guess how advanced the technology will be.
As to whether our move into Pavia heralds the start of Paribus expanding into other metaverses Simon, our CTO shares his insights, “Given the fact that Paribus is a cross-chain platform, we do intend to expand our reach into other metaverses in the future. Just as we’re focusing on Cardano but are not beholden to that network, the same goes for Pavia. We will priorízate our development within the Cardano ecosystem and believe in the success of their technology long term.”
Witnessing the rapid explosion in the development of smart contracts since their launch gives an indication as to just how quickly future developments of blockchain technology may be. As the desire to move towards decentralized solutions across the board grows, so too will the availability of the technology to fulfill those desires.
