Antimatter is building a sidechain

Antimatter is building a sidechain on BNBChain. The sidechain will be called B2. In connection with this, Antimatter is releasing a new logo and is launching a brand new homepage.

Over the last few months, Antimatter put a lot of effort into setting up the BAS sidechain with the right parameters. They put together a whitepaper, containing everything you want to know.

Antimatter Background

Antimatter Labs’ vision was always to utilize the blockchain to be the gateway of DeFi derivatives. They realized that accessibility is a key to a blockchain system. Hence, its goal is to have universal efficient, and low-cost DeFi derivatives worldwide. They came to the conclusion that building its own blockchain would provide scalability and the opportunity to create a perfect financial infrastructure for structured products and derivatives.

Moreover, running a sidechain provides users with very low transaction costs and fast transaction finality. They figured that it lowers the barrier to entry, packaging one ecosystem on one blockchain. All Antimatter DApps are multichain, which imposes challenges for UX and UI and generally can get confusing.

BUILDING THE B2

B2 is built from the BAS framework providing development-ready EVM-compatible features like staking, RPC-API, and smart contracts. Antimatter’s ecosystem will move onto B2, including Nonfungible Finance, Structured (Dual Investment, DOV, Sharkfin…), and Quanto.

The Parlia consensus mechanism encourages users to deposit their funds and vote for honest validators, which will make the B2 sidechain more decentralized and reliable. It also helps share-holders get rewards from their stakes by earning commissions from block producers. From a technical point of view, the B2 sidechain involves staking smart contracts on Solidity for the EVM runtime. BAS supports the Celer bridge which will also be used by Antimatter Labs.

Next Steps

Over the coming weeks, Antimatter will integrate its DApps on B2. Furthermore, existing DApps will still be available on other blockchains. Moreover, this new path has rejuvenated the project and brought new energy to the team. The road ahead is bright and Antimatter looks forward to exploring these new possibilities more determined than ever before.
