The Empowa project has initially kicked off in Mozambique; however, expansion plans are in place to reach the nations of Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. Empowa recently partnered with World Mobile, a decentralized mobile network company. They seek to leverage this partnership to grow Immunify.Life and expand its community reach.
Empowa: Real Estate & DeFi Solution
In many African countries, mortgage rates are as high as 45%! This factor alone creates a significant financial barrier to homeownership for ordinary citizens. The vicious cycle of lack of affordable housing is caused by several factors, including lack of funding, inadequate demand/supply, rising costs of building, which has led to a backlog of over 50 million homes across the African continent.
Empowa was created to unlock this $1 trillion business opportunity. The project explores RealFi (real estate and DeFi) solutions to economically empower Africans to purchase and own their homes. The platform seeks to address these issues by creating decentralized financial models that will reduce the cost of capital and introduce a lease to buy model that is more fit for purpose given the realities on the ground. The reduction in cost of capital and new home loan model has meant Empowa’s offering is now affordable to 60% of the Mozambican population.
Empowa’s RealFi system will cut down the high mortgage interest rates while simultaneously promoting the construction of cyclone-resistant green homes for African communities through the use of climate-friendly building materials. The Empowa solution will greatly reduce the financial burden for local developers and allow them to offer inexpensive, eco-friendly alternatives to their clients at an affordable mortgage rate.
