What does Wanchain offers?
- Direct – Up to Wanchain 5.0, all crosschain transfers supported by Wanchain were about transferring assets through Wanchain. A direct bridge platform is to expand the Wanchain platform to support asset transfer between two blockchains without the need of routing through Wanchain. This will allow Wanchain to provide a technical mechanism to bridge Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polkadot, and EOS blockchains directly.
- Decentralized – Wanchain provides a holistic open source crosschain suite for the 5.0 release. The Wanchain crosschain mechanism, storeman agents, P2P discovery, wallet, and browser have all been redesigned and implemented to increase performance and improve user experience.
- Fair – Anyone can deploy a Wanchain bridge node.
- Incentivised – Node operators and delegators are rewarded for securing the network and bridges with WAN coins.
- Secure – Wanchain bridge nodes use Secure Multiparty Computation and Shamir’s Secret Sharing cryptography.
- Accessible – Wanchain is fully EVM compatible, making it easy for developers to build crosschain Solidity-based applications.
Wanchain Crosschain Bridge Types
- Direct Bridges – Direct bridges require no intermediaries or relay network to complete crosschain transactions.
- Layer 2 Bridges – Layer 2 bridges use decentralised liquidity pools to bridge assets between popular Ethereum Layer 2 networks like Polygon and Arbitrum. Assets do not need to pass through the Layer 1 blockchain, thereby preserving the Layer 2 network’s high transaction throughput and relatively low gas fees.
- NFT Bridges – NFT bridges use the lock-mint-burn-unlock mechanism.
