Phillippine power firm Aboitiz looks into blockchain trading for the electricity market.

The CEO and President of Aboitiz Group Emmanuel Rubio said in an interview in the Manila Bulletin that blockchain trading in the electricity market has a lot of potential especially in the net-metering system for renewable energy and micro-grids.

The CEO further states that regulators need to clarify certain issues regarding the rules in net metering and the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market to be able to drive the blockchain trading.

The news of exploration of blockchain technology coincides with the Aboitiz Group’s newly launched data science and artificial intelligence (DSAI) venture.
