1. “Why will the number of collators be reduced in Darwinia 2.0 compared to the number of validators in Darwinia 1.0?”

In Darwinia 1.0, the Darwinia solo chain is independent, with its own consensus, which relies on validators and value at stake to guarantee the economic security of the system; and too few of those validators increase the degree to which the Darwinia Network is centralized.

Darwinia 2.0, however, will be secured by the Polkadot Relay Chain validators, so will not require its own consensus model with value at stake.

Instead, collators will maintain Darwinia 2.0 by aggregating transactions into parachain block candidates, and producing state transition proofs for Relay Chain validators based on those blocks. Unlike validators, collators do not secure the network. If a Darwinia 2.0 block is deemed invalid, it will be rejected by Relay Chain validators. As a result, a collators’ responsibility is significantly reduced.

Actually, a single collator is sufficient for Darwinia 2.0 to function as a parachain, and while redundancy of collators is beneficial for reliability and stability, it does not result in increased performance, or enhance the security of the Polkadot network.

Overall, the number of collators in Darwinia 2.0 will be quite a bit smaller than the number of validators in Darwinia 1.0.

Moonbeam XCM integration with Darwinia, which will allow connected contracts on Moonbeam to communicate via Darwinia’s Universal Cross-Chain Messaging Network once remote EVM calls through XCM are enabled. Furthermore, this will connect any contract in Moonbeam to any network outside of the Polkadot ecosystem. Like Ethereum, Avalanche, and others, once Darwinia’s Light-Client Based Cross-Chain Messaging protocol and XCM are combined. To start, the XCM integration will allow the movement of RING, Darwinia’s token, as an XC-20 inside Moonbeam’s broad dApp ecosystem.

Darwinia a generalize light-client base message delivery network and Polkadot parachain. That provides a highly-secure and programmable bridging framework between Polkadot and EVM chains. Such as Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, & others, & also provides an SDK to simplify the development process and create seamless user experiences, especially when transacting across multiple chains.

The Moonbeam XCM connection with Darwinia smart contract platform will bring Darwinia Universal Cross-Chain Message SDK for use in developing cross-chain asset bridges, and cross-chain access to assets for use as collateral on a remote blockchain, and allowing asset exchanges across chains with a single transaction in the future. These integrations look forward to allowing NFTs to move across multiple chains. Unified multi-chain governance with no requirement to move assets to a central voting chain.

The connection with Darwinia strengthens Moonbeam

This connection with Darwinia strengthens Moonbeam’s delivery of cross-chain connected applications uniting functionally within and beyond Polkadot and Kusama networks. The Darwinia SDK allows cross-chain use cases while improving the simplifying user experience. By abstracting away all the intermediate routes and protocol translations along the way, even if there are multiple network hops.

As a whole, the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems work together with parachains like Moonbeam and Darwinia. To strengthen & secure communications using the growing library of options for secure cross-chain messaging available. Connections between Kusama & Polkadot in addition to the external connections enabled via Moonbeam with Axelar. Layer Zero, Wormhole, & Hyperlane contribute to the next generation of applications to move Dotsama forward.

About Moonbeam

Moonbeam an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform for building cross-chain connected applications that can access on any chain. It’s a parachain on Polkadot & a highly specialized Layer 1 chain that mirrors Ethereum’s Web3 RPC, accounts, keys, subscriptions, logs, and more, and extends the base Ethereum feature set with additional features such as on-chain governance, staking, and cross-chain integrations. By uniting functionality from Ethereum, Cosmos, Polkadot, & more into a single platform. Moonbeam solves today’s fragmented user experience — unlocking true interoperability & paving the way for the next generation of applications. With Ren supporting it, you can now bridge BTC, DOGE, ZEC as well as tokens & assets from the 10+ other smart contract chains Ren supports directly to Moonbeam.

About Darwinia

Darwinia a cross-chain messaging infrastructure, which provides a light client-based, programmable, universal cross-chain messaging network for decentralized applications. Darwinia’s light-client cross-chain messaging protocol(LCMP) is used to bridge cross-chain messages between substrate chains, and also between substrate and EVM chains. The Darwinia SDK allows developers to easily integrate cross-chain capabilities into their Dapps which will have profound implications for cross-chain interoperability and Darwinia as a cross-chain messaging infrastructure will facilitate the building of a hybrid cross-chain network for Polkadot.

Why Dark Network?

Born in 2018, Dark is now moving to Substrate and their team is building DarkBay, the first privacy focused and DAO driven ecommerce dApp. Most importantly, buy and sell products, create storefronts, rate sellers and more with lightning fast transactions and low fees.

Crab Network Description

Crab is a canary network with real economic value for Darwinia, and its positioning is similar to Polkadot’s Kusama Network. Above all, it has won the 22nd Kusama parachain slot! You can check Crab status through Polkadot{.js}, Subscan or Subview.

Also, Crab provides smart contract solutions based on DVM (Darwinia Virtual Machine), which is compatible with the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) paradigm at a low level. Therefore, it is easy for projects in the Ethereum ecosystem to migrate to the Crab Smart Chain.

Partnership Benefits

Therefore, to improve liquidity and allow users from other chains/networks to enter and exit DarkBay easily, Darwinia cooperates with Dark Network to integrate Darwinia universal cross-chain message network as a foundational layer for cross-chain asset transfers.

About Darwinia

Darwinia is a light client-based multi-chain message delivery network on Substrate. Also, it will be a foundational layer for the next generation of Web3.0 dapps and games, and a primary in/out point of the Polkadot ecosystem.

In addition, Darwinia Network provides the most secure general bridging solution between heterogeneous chains such as Polkadot, Ethereum, Polygon, and BSC, and can add an additional security layer to existing bridge technologies.

About Dark Network

Firstly, Dark Network is a community-first p2p e-commerce project with the main goal to address two important issues: lack of privacy and lack of decentralization in e-commerce.

In addition, Dark “Dystopia” proof of concept, built with Substrate framework, has 3 layers :

Dot runtime/node

Api middlewares/libraries

Bay front-end
