ChainGuardians are thrilled to announce their mainnet integration of Chainlink’s Verifiable Randomness Function (VRF)

ChainGuardians are excited to announce our mainnet integration of Chainlink’s Verifiable Randomness Function (VRF) — a decentralized oracle service from Chainlink that provides smart contracts with a verifiable source of on-chain randomness. By integrating Chainlink VRF, we ensure that all players have a provably fair and unbiased chance at generating any one of the 16 predefined unique color aesthetics possible within our newly released Chainlink Guardian NFTs. The use of Chainlink’s VRF means the generation of each Chainlink Guardian NFT is provably fair.

There is a dedicated web-page for the new Chainlink Guardian which will be shared nearer the time. Please note that the minting functionality will not be available until 04/28/2021.

INTRODUCING ZORARE: THE GUARDIAN OF CHAINLINK

HOW CHAINLINK GUARDIAN NFTS WILL UTILIZE VRF

While NFT-backed items offer many benefits, such as provable ownership and ease of exchange for real-world value, we wanted to bring about a more dynamic user experience by allowing players the opportunity to individualize their Chainlink Guardian NFTs. With Chainlink’s VRF, this can be done in numerous ways:

• – Chainlink Guardian Purchase: Since Chainlink’s VRF is integrated directly into ChainGuardians’ website and code, there is nothing the user needs to do – they can purchase Chainlink Guardian NFTs on the front end with the exact same experience they are used to when purchasing NFTs.
• – 16 Unique Colors: Players will be able to purchase a Chainlink Guardian NFT that features 1 of 16 unique colors assigned by Chainlink VRF. This will change the appearance of the Guardian whilst preserving their predetermined attributes, ultimately leading to an individualized experience that doesn’t interfere with gameplay
• – Dedicated Webpage: There is a dedicated webpage on our blockchain-based gaming platform where users can securely purchase Zorare, the Chainlink Guardian. This webpage also provides a breakdown of the color rarities and the percentage chance of minting as per Chainlink’s VRF.

Because this customization feature centers around creating a meaningful player experience, we wanted to make sure that players had a way to prove that the randomness driving their color assignments was auditable. Chainlink’s VRF makes for the ideal technology to enable this feature.

Chainlink’s VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. A valid cryptographic proof cannot be generated unless the process remains tamper-proof, and ChainGuardians will not accept the random number supplied by Chainlink VRF without a valid cryptographic proof. As such, players get strong and verifiable assurances that the randomness was fairly generated without interference from any third party—including the oracles and us, the developers.
