Ocean Protocol Partners with Token Engineering Academy for Ocean Market Balancer Simulations
Ocean Protocol will partner with Token Engineering Academy and Balancer to spin off #OpenScience for the Ocean ecosystem.
As a challenge partner for Balancer Simulations, Ocean will collaborate with researchers to study agent-based models of the Web3 data economy. Additionally, Balancer Simulations researchers will be well-positioned for additional ongoing funding from OceanDAO for further Token Engineering research.
Ocean Protocol unlocks the value of data as a new asset class. Data owners and consumers publish, discover, and consume data assets in a secure, privacy-preserving fashion on Ocean Market. In parallel, OCEAN token holders stake on data and become liquidity providers in new data token pools. These datatokens bridge the multibillion data industry into DeFi assets under management, and help valuable data get used to optimize DeFi yields and capital efficiency.

Over three months, Balancer simulations will gather DeFi researchers to create simulations of a Web3 data economy. The researchers will use TokenSPICE agent-based simulation with EVM-in-the-loop. Using EVM enables perfect-fidelity models of Balancer V1 and V2 contracts. These models interact with Python-based agents for data suppliers, data consumers, data stakers and speculators. Researchers will compare one-sided with two-sided data staking, model the effect of liquidity mining and other incentives on data supply or demand, and compare Dutch Auctions versus Liquidity Bootstrapping Pools for Initial Data Offerings (IDOs). The results will be accessible and re-usable for the Balancer, Ocean, and Token Engineering communities.
