Terra’s Community Bounty Program

Terra introduced Terra’s Community Bounty Program in collaboration with Terra Bites and Learn Terra.

The Community Bounty Program provides a weekly spectrum of written content bounties covering various topics relevant to the Terra ecosystem. Inspired by the successful 1729 Project, the bounty program offers rewards in UST to community members who compete for posted bounties ranging in style from analysis to walkthroughs, tutorials, and more.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned DeFi analyst or newcomer to the Terra ecosystem; as long as you’re willing to write informative posts for the broader community, this is your chance to shine.

Every Friday, a series of content bounties will be hosted on the “Bounties” tab of the Learn Terra website for community members to submit posts for a chance to win UST rewards. Initially, TFL will bootstrap the program by funding the first month’s bounties directly, then transitioning the bounty funding to a principal-protected, yield-based deposit contract using Pylon Protocol.

Initially, they will begin with 3 bounties per week, each with $500 in UST sent to the winning writer’s submission. Content submissions should be a minimum of ~1,500 words but are not limited to a capped word count. The submissions will be judged by TFL and Terra Bites based on the following criteria:

Quality of the content submitted.
Style, formatting, and grammar of the submissions.
Social engagement of the submitted content.

Winners will be announced on the following Friday alongside the posting of the new weekly bounties. Winners for each bounty will be allocated the following rewards in UST.

1st Place — $350

2nd Place — $100

3rd Place — $50

Content bounties will originally be confined to written content from topics selected by TFL and Terra Bites. However, they are exploring expanding the program to include visual content, including video walkthroughs, animated explainer videos, graphics design, and more. Bounty topics will also be open to contributions from the community down the line.

Relevant research and guidelines will be provided for each bounty, and we encourage participants to approach topics from different angles and styles. To submit content, simply draft a post for one of the 3 bounty topics that week from your own Medium account, and submit the published Medium post link to this Google Form no later than 5 PM PST on Wednesday of the corresponding week for the highlighted bounties.

They also encourage participants to share their submissions publicly on social channels once completed and shared in the Google Form. Social engagement of the posts is part of the criteria for judging submissions, although it will be weighted less than the quality, style, format, and other fundamental standards to ensure that contributors with smaller social followings receive a fair assessment.

Winners will be announced the following Friday, and UST rewards dispersed to the 3 winners (1 for each topic) accordingly. Even though there is only one winner for each bounty, we will highlight some of the runner-up submissions for each category, helping to amplify engagement for participating community members and encourage more submissions from the community by building a catalog of community content creators.

Winning submissions will be announced on the following Friday alongside the new hosted bounties on Learn Terra.

Once the bounty program is shifted to a principal-protected deposit contract on Pylon, any bounty topics that do not receive submissions will have the bounty reward (i.e., 500 UST) rolled over into the deposit contract, augmenting the yield for the bounty program by increasing the principal.

Moving forward, they will gauge the participation activity of the community for the program, and potentially expand the set of bounties and increase the UST rewards to accommodate more submissions and a wider array of topics.
