Metastrike Integrates Chainlink VRF
Metastrike — an FPS blockchain shooting game — has integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on BNB Chain mainnet.
By integrating the industry-leading decentralized oracle network, Metastrike now has access to a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness needed to help mint and distribute in-game NFTs in a transparent and provable fair manner. Ultimately this creates a more exciting and transparent user experience, as users can see that all players have an equal opportunity to discover rare weapons in the in-game NFT boxes.
How does VRF support the Metastrike NFTs mint mechanism?
Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Metastrike smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This provides its users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain that Metastrike is provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the Metastrike team.
When users open the Metastrike NFT boxes, the smart contract will call Chainlink VRF to access a verifiably random number used in the minting process for random NFT weapons. For each request, Chainlink VRF generates one or more random values and an on-chain cryptographic proof of how those values were determined and sends it back to Metastrike NFT mint smart contract.
The proof is published and verified on-chain before any consuming applications can use it. This process ensures that results cannot be tampered with or manipulated by any single entity, including oracle node operators, miners, users, or smart contract developers.
“Chainlink VRF enables smart contracts to access random values without compromising on security or usability, making it mission-critical infrastructure for our NFT minting and distribution process. We want to make sure every player has equal access to the rarest in-game NFTs, and VRF helps us do that.” — Peter Nguyen, Founder
About Chainlink
Chainlink is the industry standard for building, accessing, and selling oracle services needed to power hybrid smart contracts on any blockchain. Chainlink oracle networks provide smart contracts with a way to reliably connect to any external API and leverage secure off-chain computations for enabling feature-rich applications. Chainlink currently secures tens of billions of dollars across DeFi, insurance, gaming, and other major industries, and offers global enterprises and leading data providers a universal gateway to all blockchains.
About Metastrike
Metastrike is an FPS Multiplayer Blockchain Game project that includes many essential and advanced features of a shooting game, with modern gameplay and high effort investment in both visuals and gameplay.
Dive into a game world designed after the success of CSGO and Call of Duty. Players can satisfy their carrying level like a Smurf! As the game builds upon features of its FPS predecessors, the maps, items, and guns are designed in a highly balanced form suitable for go-pro players.
In addition, because it is a blockchain game, players can trade tokenized items on-chain, with a variety of gun and weapon NFTs available. This is extremely useful for veteran gamers as they can trade in-game items or guns like in traditional games, but with complete transparency thanks to blockchain technology. Surely limited AWM guns will be very popular in the NFT marketplace and sold from chain to chain by high-class snipers!
