Radix Betanet Desktop Wallet v0.7.5 With Stake & Unstake Went Live
Betanet Radix Desktop WalleT allows users to create accounts, get tokens, send and receive them, and experiment with staking and unstaking of betanet-only $XRD tokens. The Radix Explorer webpage is the place where users can view various bits of on-ledger data in real time. The betanet Radix Node which users can run as a “full node”, “validator node”, or “archive node” – as well as a JSON-RPC API you can use to perform basic queries and create transactions programmatically.
Radix uses a specific kind of staking as part of a protocol mechanism called Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS). This staking uses only $XRD, the utility token of the Radix network. Holders of $XRD may stake their tokens to help guarantee the security of the Radix network against many forms of attack – the more $XRD staked the better.
Staking XRD tokens however requires making some careful choices. The staker must choose to assign (or “delegate”) their stake to “validator nodes” that operate the Radix network protocol. The tokens still belong to the staker, but delegation is like voting for a representative that must behave correctly to keep the network running securely and quickly.
