Gnosis Safe is Live on Layer 2!
Polygon and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) have joined xDai as Gnosis’ Layer 2 offerings, with Arbitrum coming soon
Gnosis Safe team has launch on EVM-compatible networks Polygon and Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Arbitrum, which is completing steps toward mainnet release, will join within the coming weeks.
The multi-chain rollout will play a critical role in meeting the Gnosis Safe community’s needs of tackling Ethereum scalability, boosting the adoption of Decentralized Autonomous Organisations (DAOs), bringing added security to DeFi treasuries, and creating space for network-native features.
Benefits to Gnosis Safe Users
Launching on each chain means creating a chain-specifc Safe App browser, for projects that convert their dapp to a Safe App. Polygon, BSC and xDai (and Arbitrum, when it launches on mainnet) all boast a vibrant and expanding ecosystem of native dapps as well as dapps that are available across multiple chain
Benefits to Developers
In addition to the Layer 2 benefits of increased speed, efficiency and cost, the launch of Gnosis Safe on Polygon, Arbitrum and BSC facilitates easy access to the applications being developed on those networks. Any existing dapp can be converted into a Safe app with just a few lines of code.
Additionally, Gnosis Safe will also be crucial in securing smart contract systems and project treasuries:
Logging into Layer 2s
How do you access Polygon, BSC, Arbitrum and xDai from Gnosis Safe? It’s easy — just navigate to app.gnosis-safe.io. In the top right, you’ll see a new drop-down menu offering log-in options for different networks.
Simply select the network you want to enter (for this example — Polygon) and you’ll be prompted through the steps to connect, including setting Metamask to the correct network:
Please note that it’s not possible to access any Layer 2 network from the same Gnosis Safe used on mainnet. You’ll need to create an entirely new Safe on each network, so make sure you have sufficient funds for gas in the native currency of the network. Make sure not to send funds to a Safe address on the wrong network.
