KlimaDAO Launch Announcement
🚀KlimaDAO will go live on Polygon mainnet next Monday, 18th October 2021 at 8pm UTC.
Once they are live, anyone holding a KLIMA token can begin interacting with the ecosystem via staking. Staking is the dominant long-term strategy (3, 3) for Klimates to maximise their exposure as the protocol grows.
Newcomers will also be able to acquire KLIMA through the bonding mechanism (i.e., by committing liquidity tokens to the treasury), or directly from the SushiSwap trading pools (SushiSwap pools will launch in line with the closing price of our Fair Launch Auction on Copper Launch).
The initial circulating supply will be just 250,000 KLIMA, each backed by a Base Carbon Tonne (BCT) in the protocol’s treasury. This supply includes all tokens acquired during the LBP and IDO, and all KLIMA tokens in the initial liquidity pools.
Getting Ready
First up, remember that KlimaDAO will be on Polygon, not Ethereum mainnet. This is the sustainable, efficient network for us to build on. We therefore suggest you prepare some MATIC ahead of time so you can interact with the protocol. 1–2 MATIC should be sufficient, as transactions are typically a few pennies.
Additionally, if you have acquired aKLIMA or alKLIMA from the LBP or Crucible rewards event, you will need to have enough ETH in your wallet to cover the gas for bridging.
Initial Discord Offering (IDO) Participants
If you participated in the IDO on 17th — 20th August, you do not need to do anything further; you will be airdropped your KLIMA allocation on the launch date straight to Polygon. The airdrop will land in the same wallet address that you purchased your IDO NFT with.
- D Carbon Horizon holders will be airdropped 50 KLIMA at launch.
- M Carbon Horizon holders will be airdropped 100 KLIMA at launch.
Remember, NFT holders will also be airdropped rewards as though they had participated with the Alchemist Rewards Program. No further action is required by IDO participants.
Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool (LBP) Participants (aKLIMA)*
If you acquired aKLIMA during the LBP, you need to bridge your aKLIMA across to Polygon. If you aren’t sure how to do this, here is a tutorial on our Community Hub:

*for those who earned alKLIMA through Crucible rewards, the exact same process described in this section for aKLIMA should be repeated for alKLIMA.
Alchemist Crucible Event Participants (alKLIMA)
If you acquired aKLIMA in the LBP and then participated in the Post LBP Klimate Party on alchemist.wtf, you need to redeem your rewards ahead of launch in the next 7 days. Please note that rewards will end tomorrow, 12th October. To redeem:
- Head back to Alchemist Rewards Program, navigate to ‘Your Crucibles’, click the ‘…’ next to the aKLIMA rewards programme and click ‘View…’, then click ‘Unsubscribe’.
- Click the ‘Asset Management’ tab, then the ‘Withdraw’ button to move your aKLIMA tokens back to your wallet.
- Next, bridge your aKLIMA and alKLIMA following the tutorial linked above.
Launch Day
At 8pm UTC on the 18th October, they will go live.
The relevant contract and pool addresses will be communicated in the KlimaDAO Discord and the Twitter account on launch day.
Please always double check that you are using verified contract addresses before making any changes. KlimaDAO takes no responsibility for funds lost from interacting with unverified contract addresses.
There are a few strategies on launch day to get exposure:
- Acquire KLIMA in the open market via liquidity pools on SushiSwap. Simply connect your wallet and search for KLIMA (remember to switch to Polygon and avoid the illiquid L1 aKLIMA pool).
- Whether you acquire your KLIMA on launch day, or already have some from the LBP or IDO, you can put your KLIMA to work by staking at https://dapp.klimadao.finance/#/stake
- Bonding is the most cost-effective way to acquire KLIMA as the protocol will deliver the user a discount in return for BCT/KLIMA LP and BCT/USDC LP bonds. To bond, you must acquire BCT from Sushiswap, or purchase VCUs and bridge them using the infrastructure developed by Toucan (formerly CO2ken).
