Guild Saga is a Play-to-Earn, NFT-based fantasy RPG built on the Solana blockchain. Designed with an isometric perspective and populated with hand-drawn pixelated sprites, players engage Guild Saga’s open-world by journeying across lands, battling foes along the way. Guild Saga is perhaps best described as a combination of classic JPRG tactics games, such as Final Fantasy Tactics, with modern CRPGs like Divinity: Original Sin. There is, however, also the added bonus of Play-to-Earn mechanics and tokenized loot!
Being a blockchain-based RPG, Guild Saga takes full advantage of the possibilities that NFTs offer gamers. The main reason why RPGs are so enthralling is that as you play them, you grow: learning new skills, earning higher caliber weapons and armor, and coming to access forbidden lands that were once too challenging to traverse.
By throwing NFTs into the mix, no longer are players’ items trapped within the confines of the game itself. Instead, they represent assets that gamers actually own. Now, by making the voyage through an RPG, the advances made on one’s items become more tangible, paying off — even in a literal sense. The high-level characters, rare items, and precious loot found within Guild Saga can be bought, sold, traded, and (thanks to IQ Protocol) even rented or borrowed within the game!

IQ Protocol offers something unique in the world of NFTs. Namely, the ability to lend or borrow NFTs without collateral or risk. A core feature of IQ Protocol’s platform is the ability to create wrapped, expirable versions of digital assets, which can be used as the basis for a variety of solutions. When it comes to Guild Saga, IQ Protocol will power the NFT rental marketplace.
With IQ Protocol within their infrastructures, Guild Saga will allow their players to do more than just trade or sell their collections of weapons or treasures (or other in-game assets) that they aren’t currently using. Now, they will be able to retain their assets and make passive income while allowing other players to gain their unique benefits. Another player may need to, for instance, go head to head with a powerful forest monster. And in order to succeed, they need a much more powerful sword. But perhaps they don’t know where to find such a weapon and don’t have the funds to purchase one flat out. Happily, they are not out of luck!
IQ Protocol provides the infrastructure for one player to rent out their NFTs to other players for a pre-arranged amount of time and for an agreed-upon price, benefiting both parties involved. Where stakers and lenders gain interest or income on their assets, renters gain access to whatever utility the asset represents, thereby bringing to life the use cases the assets empower.
Oh, and we mentioned that our NFT renting model was risk-free. How can that be?
IQ Protocol’s model for NFT lending and borrowing is built to be risk-free. Typical modes of lending an asset put the lender at risk, say if the borrower loses hold of the asset (for whatever reason). With IQ Protocol, such risks are not a concern. Instead of giving the original asset to the borrower, IQ Protocol mints an expirable version of the NFT (which contains all of the unique features of the original). This NFT is then given to the borrower. Our platform guarantees that the original NFT is always safe and can be returned to the owner after the agreed-upon rental contract has expired. Now, players can rest easy renting out the items that they aren’t currently using, providing a source of passive income without having to sell their favorite assets.
