Introducing Carbon Browser

Carbon Browser is an open-source, privacy-focused web browser based on a custom fork of Chromium that automatically blocks ads and website trackers by default. It also loads web pages 3 times faster and provides smoother browsing while taking up to 56% less space on devices compared to competitors.

Launched in 2016, Carbon Browser has over 5M downloads, 25k-30k Daily Active Users, and over 200K active installations across the USA, UK, Germany, India, and Turkey. Carbon is currently available for Android on the Google Play Store as a Web2 browser and will soon be available across all platforms including iOS, Mac OS, and PC.

Carbon X Labs is now working on the next version of Carbon Browser which will be a fully immersive Web3 browser that supports the growing needs of the Web3 community. It will include free privacy features, superior ad blocking, a multi-chain cryptocurrency wallet with atomic swaps, and much more all within a decentralized framework.

Carbon Browser vs. The Competition

Privacy by Default

Chrome and Safari are the two most popular web browsers globally with a combined market share of over 83%. Decentralized Applications (DApps) can currently be accessed on these browsers via user-installed Web3 wallets. But neither of these browsers offers privacy-focused native features. Chrome’s ‘Incognito Mode’ and Safari’s ‘Private Browser’ barely offer any significant form of privacy other than clearing cookies and browser history. They still allow trackers, ads, and other scripts to follow you around the web as you browse.

Carbon solves the privacy issue with its built-in VPN and firewall which will be free for all users. The premium offering, Carbon Pro, will offer enhanced VPN protection and firewall services and 24/7 technical support. Both versions of the Carbon Browser VPN and firewall encrypt and protect users’ online data with secure connections.

Decentralization

VPNs can help with privacy but these often come with subscription fees and are run by centralized companies that may be selling user data for profit. Other blockchain-friendly web browsers such as Brave allow users to control their data and digital assets without intermediaries and offer more of a focus on privacy and AdBlocking.

The Carbon Browser rewards program is decentralized and will not require KYC or user verification to withdraw token rewards. Carbon will also feature access to the decentralized web via our in-built multi-privacy network options including VPN, dVPN, ToR e2ee, and 3rd-party networks

Superior AdBlocking

AdBlocking browsers like Brave can cause white gaps or spaces to display where the ad would normally be thus not truly blocking ads but rather patching over them with a white box. Chrome and Safari do not offer AdBlock as standard but require users to download a ‘freemium’ or paid extension to block ads.

Carbon has partnered with Eyeo and is built on a custom fork of the Eyeo AdBlock SDK enabling a more fair and sustainable value exchange between advertisers, publishers, and online users. Eyeo is the world leader in AdBlocking and ad filtering technology and supports the Acceptable Ads Program which now reaches 250 million monthly active users worldwide.

Carbon AdX Marketplace

This partnership is the precursor to Carbon’s own self-service Ad Marketplace, known as Carbon AdX Marketplace. This platform will feature advanced ad-filtering technology that helps publishers tap new revenue streams, gives users a better experience, and increases advertiser reach by providing a marketplace for publishers and advertisers to buy and sell acceptable ads all from within the Carbon Browser platform. Publishers will be able to sell non-intrusive ads directly to advertisers by providing ad server integrations such as DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), Adzerk, and Ezoic.

Carbon will take a 10% commission on all sales and share it with Carbon Pro users via the in-app rewards program.

Web3 Features

$CSIX Token Utility

Carbon X Labs Team 

Carbon is an open-source community project which aims to become a fully decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). DAOs are defined by the use of blockchain technology to provide a secure digital ledger and track governance decisions.

Carbon is actively run by members of the community as well as developers and contributors with backgrounds from Microsoft, Mozilla, and Apple. Below are some prominent members of the community actively directing the project known as Carbon X Labs.

Token Offering Details

Secure Launch Process

To ensure a smooth launch, the Carbon X Labs team has agreed to:

1) Have their domain fully SSL certified one week prior to the launch date.

2) Have their domain protected by Cloudflare and share the proof with TrustSwap prior to the launch date.

3) Disclose the vesting schedule of all tokens, including team, strategic investors, private presale, influencers, etc.

4) Add no less than $100,000 of liquidity immediately upon DEX listing.

5) Distribute tokens to launchpad participants within one hour of exchange listing.

6) Lock liquidity within 3 hours of listing for no less than 60 days.

7) Provide the timeline for token distributions and distribute tokens within a one-hour window of the agreed-upon time.

8) Lock 75% or more of team & dev fund tokens for a minimum of thirty days on http://team.finance/ within 6 hours of funding DEX liquidity.

9) Have at least one community moderator on each social platform (Twitter, Telegram, etc.) actively available 24 hours a day for the first 7 days following the launch.

Participation and Allocation

Anyone with a Staking Score of at least 4,000 is eligible to apply to participate in the Public Sale round of the $CSIX token offering granted that individuals (and entities) meet jurisdictional restrictions. Token allocation will be split up among eligible participants proportionately based on their percentage of the total combined Staking Scores. For example, if the sum of staking scores for all participants is 1,000,000 and your score is 10,000, your allocation will be 1% of the total available tokens.

Visit the TrustSwap Dashboard to check your staking score. You can add more SWAP and/or increase the duration of your stakes at any time to increase your Staking Score.

Step-By-Step Guide

1. On January 30th, 2023 at 5:00 pm UTC, the application window will open and remain open for 24 hours. During this time, go to the TrustSwap Launchpad and click on the “Start” button to apply.

NOTE: The SWAP snapshot will be taken at 5 PM UTC on January 31st, 2023 (24 hours after the Launch event begins). 

2. Complete all of the steps required to complete KYC verification. This can be done in advance at any time for free in just a few minutes. Click here to complete your KYC registration now.

3. The portal will close after 24 hours. Following its close, there will be a waiting period of up to 48 hours as the Carbon X Labs team finalizes internal processes.

4. Upon the success of your application, you will receive an email confirming the maximum amount you are allowed to contribute to the token offering. You will have 24 hours to send these funds. After 24 hours, your position will be given to the next in line and you will lose it. Payments must be sent in USDC or USDT on either Ethereum (ERC20), BSC (BEP20), or Polygon (MATIC) blockchain.

5. DEX listing and TGE are planned for February 2023.

How To Prepare

1. Based on the requirements set for a guaranteed allocation, stake your $SWAP tokens here before the snapshot on 1/31/2023 at 5:00 PM UTC.
2. Take a photo of your government-issued ID card (Passport, Drivers License, or any other form of government-issued ID card that has your photo in it).*
3. Take a selfie of yourself holding the ID card along with a note that reads: “Carbon 2023”.*
4. Make sure to follow the TrustSwap Announcement channel for updates and confirmations.
5. Submit your details and documents at any point during the 24-hour window at https://dashboard.trustswap.org/app/launchpads.

FlashLaunch Participation And Allocation

• Each FlashLaunch will have a set individual Public Round allocation of exactly $500 per person.
• Anyone who registers during the 24-hour FlashLaunch window will be eligible for entry to receive an allocation as long as they have at least 4000 SWAP staked in the old staking portals (across all supported chains) OR a score of at least 4000 Points in the new Long Term Staking Pool (LTSP)when the snapshot is taken.*
• Applicants can apply to the FlashLaunch during the 24 hours between 5 PM UTC on the launch day and 5 PM UTC the following day at https://dashboard.trustswap.com/app/launchpads.
• Once all applications are registered, each participant will be assigned a specific number of entries based on both their SwapScore (old staking pool, all supported chains) and LTSP Score (new staking pool, ETH only for now) when the snapshot is taken at 5:00PM UTC on June 30th (24 hours after the FlashLaunch starts).*
• Entries will be assigned for SwapScore based on the table below. Entries for LTSP stakers will be assigned as follows:
  • One (1) Entry will be assigned for each 1000 Points over the 4000 point minimum (ie. 4000 Points = 4 Entries. 100,000 Points = 100 entries, etc.)
  • Scores will be combined (Total Entries = SwapScore + LTSP Score).*
• There will be a random drawing for the $500 allocations so the more entries you have, the higher your chance of being selected.
