City Clash Switched to Arbitrum

Published on: 16.05.2022

City Clash has announced that they have partnered with Arbitrum, a scaling solution for Ethereum that drastically reduces costs and latency.

City Clash has been building for over six months now, and they’re so proud of all the improvements they’ve made. They’ve interviewed numerous founders, shared their master plan with NFT aficionados, and most importantly, listened as well.

City Clash has started as an Ethereum Layer1 project, could thrive with the high transaction fees of L1. This was an easy answer for them. City Clash was about social strategy, communicating in the Discord, and making carefully planned moves, so that trades didn’t have to be high frequency and transaction costs weren’t a huge issue.

Why City Clash Switched to Arbitrum?

Countless people asked if City Clash were launching on Arbitrum and tried to convince them that they needed to jump on board. There were three compelling reasons to move from mainnet ETH to Arbitrum: the amazing community, the cheap transaction fees, and the cheap deployment costs! The Arbitrum NFT community, lead by TreasureDAO, is tight-knit, passionate, and, most importantly, building NFT projects the right way with long-term incentives in mind, both for developers and holders.

The cheap transaction fees will make the game even more compelling since all “moves” in City Clash are on-chain actions. While moves don’t NEED to happen at a high frequency, the game will be even more fun if the fee for making a move isn’t a concern. Cheap deployment costs allow them to test more thoroughly and do more things the “right” way. According to calculations for their contract, deploying on Arbitrum was ~8% of the cost of deploying on Ethereum mainnet!

They launched their prequel collection, City Clash Towers, on Arbitrum, and the developer experience was excellent. The active community and team were able to help them navigate any minor issues quickly. Deployment and contract verification were straightforward for them and minting went incredibly smoothly for their users.
