Shamba Integrates Chainlink Oracle Technology
Shamba, a Web3 decentralized monitoring reporting and verification (DMRV) network working to advance sustainability and economic inclusion through regenerative finance (ReFi), has integrated Chainlink’s oracle technology on Arbitrum, Avalanche, Ethereum, Optimism, and Polygon chains. Using this ecological oracle, smart contracts can consume on-chain satellite data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA), along with data from other providers. Web3-based parametric crop and livestock insurance are examples of smart contract applications that can be powered using this data. Ultimately this will help protect vulnerable farming and herding communities from the risks of climate change and help drive climate resilience across Africa.
Shamba is on a mission to help regenerate the Earth and improve the livelihoods of land custodians globally. Along with data to support parametric insurance applications, Shamba aims to also support carbon credit markets, green bonds, and other ESG projects with high-quality climate datasets collected by satellites, drones, and various other sensors, all delivered on-chain via the Chainlink Network.
