DeltaPrime Integration with SteakHut

SteakHut builds upon Trader Joe’s Liquidity Book, allows liquidity providers to concentrate their liquidity around user-specified price points. The result: With the same amount of provided liquidity, slippage is significantly reduced. Same liquidity, less idle capital, reduced slippage, efficient AMM.

SteakHut allows users to use automated Liquidity Book strategies to concentrate and rebalance liquidity around the current active bin, increasing capital utilization. The strategies can be more or less concentrated, but both increase capital utilization.

DeltaPrime’s main KPI is its high utilization ratio, which distinguishes it from overcollateralized protocols and leads to higher returns than those protocols. With security always being DeltaPrime top priority, this meant going through SteakHut’s audit and code, doing an audit on their own SteakHut integration, KYCing the team, upgrading the timelock from 6h to 24h, and sharing and discussing documents on real yields made so far for SteakHut LPs.

Prime Account holders & Depositors

This partnership will allow DeltaPrime users to benefit from Trader Joe’s Liquidity Book without having to actively manage their positions. This will increase capital efficiency and yields on borrowed funds, while also giving shorters and depositors positive APYs. Additionally, this integration will open up new avenues for delta-neutral and delta-mitigating strategies on DeltaPrime, which can be automated in the future.

What is the Prime Account?

However, one major hurdle of this design is lower capital efficiency. Even without liquidity, traders deposit more than they borrow to secure it.

The Prime Account’s security depends on its capacity to liquidate borrowed and deposited cash concurrently. Through the borrower’s collateral, the Account returns value to the chain. Reducing borrowing/depositing margins improves capital efficiency in the borrowing market. DeltaPrime anticipates their invention to deepen pool liquidity on integrated DEXs and minimize slippage across those DEXs, making the ecosystem more efficient.

Depositing

DeltaPrime is Avalanche’s first trustless, undercollateralized borrowing platform, as well as a significant advance in web3. Like other trustless borrowing systems, you may deposit your assets in liquidity pools and lend them to borrowers. DeltaPrime members not required to deposit extra collateral. This maximizes capital efficiency for both depositors and borrowers.

The APY on depositing is dependent on how much of a pool is being used. $100K in the pool, with $80K borrowed has a higher interest rate than $100K in the pool with $40K borrowed.

The challenge

DeltaPrime’s flexible interest rate is a powerful tool for managing the utilization of the pool over the long term. However, at launch, it can also present a unique challenge. Let’s look at an example:

Investor A deposits the first $50K. With no borrowers, the interest rate stays at 0%. Investor B comes in and borrows $45K, and suddenly the interest rate jumps to 63%. Investor C deposits $30K, and the rate drops down again to 3%. As you can see, without sufficient liquidity in the pools, each interaction with the pool can hugely impact the interest rate. This makes it difficult for all parties to accurately predict returns and effectively manage risk.

This is why it’s so important to have a good amount of liquidity in the pool right from the start, on January 10th. This will assist stabilize the interest rate. What they need is a fren that has enough liquidity to stabilize the rate, and who is willing to provide this for a longer period of time, supporting a successful DeltaPrime launch.

Unlocking liquidity

Benqi has been working to release this locked liquidity for the last year. They favor the sAVAX as a weapon. Benqi lets you to leverage the value of your staked AVAX for other, protocol-specific investments by offering sAVAX, its tokenized form of staked AVAX. It adds trapped value back into DeFi’s cash flow.

So far the team has been able to unlock a whopping $65.000.000 worth of AVAX. Apart from giving you more capital to invest with, this increases chain-wide cashflow, improving the economic health of the whole of Avalanche.

RoboVault

RoboVault has been developing methods using a mix of procedures that have very no price risk or temporary loss while yet producing excellent profits since September of last year. By way of illustration, their USDT pool is earning 8.5% while minimizing temporary loss. Not bad for a solid deposit. The same process is used to produce this return as it is for their USDC pool:

• 1. split the stables deposited in the pool in two.
• 2. Deposit 62.5% of USDC into AAVE
• 3. Borrow 37.5% in AVAX from AAVE
• 4. Create LP tokens on Vector or TJ
• 5. Monitor and rebalance automatically to reduce impermanent loss to a minimum.

The mathematical Gigabrain recognized 25% of the investment was lost (you began with 100% and finish up with 75%). 40% of the value was put with AAVE as collateral, earning 1.95% instead of the 30+% TraderJoe and Vector Finance are yielding.

And yet, due to their automatic rebalances, RoboVault manages to yield 8.5% with little to no price risk.

Insert DeltaPrime

On DeltaPrime, you can use your full collateral for your investments. This eliminates the need for splitting the investment up at the start. Additionally, you can borrow far past AAVEs 60% rate for AVAX. Instead, you can borrow up to 450%. This means that if you borrow 400% and add that to your 100% collateral, you just 5x’d your LP position.

Handling a rebalancing strategy dependent on a percentage change, like RoboVault does, means that higher capital utilization leads to lower relative rebalancing costs. Lower relative rebalancing costs means higher capital efficiency which in turn leads to higher yields.
